Winter Street review

by Elin Hilderbrand

Synopsis:

Kelley Quinn is the owner of Nantucket’s Winter Street Inn and the proud father of four children.

As Christmas approaches, Kelley is looking forward to spending some quality time with his family at the inn. But when he walks in on his wife kissing Santa Claus – or the man who plays Santa Claus at the annual Christmas party – utter chaos descends. Before the mulled cider is gone, the delightful shambolic Quinn family will survive a love triangle, an unplanned pregnancy, a federal crime, a small house fire, many shots of whiskey, and endless rounds of Christmas caroling, in this heartwarming novel about coming home for the holidays.

My Thoughts:

It’s no secret…I ❤ Elin Hilderbrand Books like no other! The first book I read by her was The Perfect Couple, and I was hooked. I’ve read plenty of her summer books and have enjoyed “traveling” to Nantucket with her and joining her on the many adventures I’ve read about. I also recently experienced another quick trip in the Paradise Series, which I loved. So, I thought I’d pick up and try the Winter Series since it was Christmas time! I liked the first book, Winter Street, but didn’t love it. However, that being said, I think it was a slow start and really didn’t pick up for me until about midway through. Of course, in typical EH fashion, once it picked up, I was hooked, so I will be picking up the 2nd book in the Winter Series, but for now, here are my thoughts!

This book is full of dynamic characters that immediately make you want to learn more about them, but since the book carried so many multiple POVs, it was a lot early on. As you went through the book, it got easier, and I do enjoy reading from multiple POVs, but initially, it’s a lot. Also, as you can tell in the synopsis, there is a lot going on. While there is a lot happening to each character, Elin does a great job keeping you clear on what is happening with each character and not creating confusion as you read.

Again, I liked the book, but didn’t love it. I give it ⭐⭐⭐.5 / out of 5 stars! I also will continue the series to see what happens next in Winter Stroll!
